In the 20th Century:
Finding a husband was every woman’s goal.
In the 21st Century:
Living a life she loves is every woman’s goal.
Spare a thought for the women who came before us.
Imagine what it must have been like to not be allowed a career… to not be allowed to do anything without your husband’s permission… to not have your own credit card or bank account.
For hundreds of years, women went straight from their parents’ control to their husband’s control.
They never got to live alone. They never got to make their own choices. They never got to be free.
I laugh to hear men described as the freedom-loving sex, because for most of history men enjoyed freedoms that women couldn’t dream of.
And one of the greatest freedoms of all is the freedom to choose who and how to love.
Honor your ancestors and all the women who came before by exercising your freedom.
You can marry or not marry.
You can live with someone or live alone.
You can have a relationship or situationship.
You get to decide what enhances your life.
Just because your mother married at 22 doesn’t mean you have to. Just because your grandmother stayed married her entire life doesn’t mean you have to.
What will you do with your freedoms?
Let us know what you think!
